// Cocktail photography tips and styling techniques//
There are a few cocktail photography tips we would like to share with you. These tips and techniques are really meant to help you take better cocktail photos and capture the essence of the recipe.
Tip#1 Using black cards
Yes we all know that we need to light our cocktails properly, however, to much light can really make you drinks look flat and unappealing. Using black cards can really help bring necessary shadows back into your cocktail photos. One of the main reasons to use black cards is to bring in black lines that help put definition back into glassware.

Using the black cards help bring the necessary shadows in the bottle and stem of the martini glass. Any black card will do, however, notice I placed my flash holders on the table to help bring more sharp dark lines back into the cocktail stem.

Tip#2 Cocktail photography on a black background
Here is where you don’t want your lights to light the front of the cocktail, you want the lights in the back and a 45 degree angle. This will allow you to get those nice white lines down the edge of your cocktail.
